Canadian dressage rider Pia Fortmuller achieved top results at the CDI3* Zakrzow, held Nov. 8-10 at the Equestrian Centre Park in South Zakrzow, POL.

Riding her veteran partner Orion (a 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding sired by Jazz) Fortmuller started on an extremely high note, winning the Grand Prix for Freestyle on a score of 68.34%.

“I am absolutely thrilled about my result, and am so very proud of Orion,” said Fortmuller, who is originally from Priddis, AB, but has been riding and training with Olympian Heike Kemmer in Germany since 2009. “He was absolutely brilliant this last weekend, and I can never say enough about how very thankful I am to have Orion as my teammate.”
Fortmuller followed up this success with another impressive performance in the Grand Prix Freestyle, riding Orion to a collection of Elton John hits, and earning a score of 72.00% for second place.

“My overall experience at Zakrzow was fantastic. It is a beautiful facility and the organization was super. My goals for the winter season are to focus on preparing for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy next year,” commented Fortmuller, who is no stranger to major games, having been named the alternate for the 2012 Canadian Olympic Dressage Team.
