Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to recognize outgoing EC Jumping Committee members, Pamela Law of Saint-Lazare, QC, and Mike Lawrence of Campbellville, ON, for over two decades of combined years of service.

Law has an extensive resume from 12 years of involvement with the JC/Jumping Committee. She was a member of the JC Bursary Committee, JC Member at Large from 2005-2007, JC Rules Committee Chair from 2008-2014 and has held the position of Jumping Committee Chair since 2015. Coupled with past experience as an athlete and horse show manager, and holding certifications as an EC certified Senior Judge for Jumping, Hunter and Hunt Seat Equitation, Law’s continued involvement has been a great asset to the Canadian jumping community.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my years on the Jump Canada/EC Jumping Committee,” said Law. “To work alongside some of Canada’s most revered equestrians has been an honour and a pleasure. The depth of knowledge and expertise on our committee is truly outstanding and to say I learned a tremendous amount from my fellow members is indeed an understatement.”

Lawrence was one of those fellow members of Law’s who brought an outstanding depth of knowledge to the Jumping Committee. He offered perspective as a former competitor, facility owner, host of EC sanctioned competitions and Board member of several equestrian organizations, not to mention his professional career as an equine dentist.

Lawrence sat on the JC Rules and Levy Committee, held the position of JC Competitions Committee Chair from 2009-2014 and was a valued Jumping Committee member from 2016-2020. Many other EC Committees benefited from his insight and knowledge, including National Rules, Competition Structural Alignment and Competition Review, as well as the Sport Council.

“The EC Jumping Committee has always been a very professional, functional and financially responsible committee that has served the organization well,” said Lawrence. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with and learning from quality horse people during my time with Jump Canada and the EC Jumping Committee.”

Karen Hendry-Ouellette, EC Manager of Sport – Jumping, concluded, “Pam and Mike have been valuable assets to the Jumping Committee over the years. Their knowledge, expertise and sound advice was always welcomed and they helped to shape the hunter/jumper discipline in Canada. I have very much enjoyed working with them and wish them all the best for the future.”

EC extends its heartfelt gratitude to Law and Lawrence for their years of hard work and effort advancing the state of show jumping in Canada.
