The elegant harmony of horse and rider will once again take centre stage at the 2025 Ottawa Dressage Festival (ODF), taking place May 29 to June 1. This event draws equestrians from across Canada and beyond, showcasing talent from grassroots to the international stage. With four days of competition, ODF remains one of Canada’s premier dressage competitions.
ODF 2025 marks another chapter in their long-standing tradition of quality and athlete development. Sanctioned by both Equestrian Canada and the FEI, the event includes a National Gold Show and a full slate of international classes, from Training Level to CDI and CPEDI, offering a platform for Canada’s top riders and a glimpse into the future of the sport.
A Gathering of Talent
The 2025 Ottawa Dressage Festival is expected to welcome close to 200 riders representing a broad spectrum of experience, age, and ambition. Athletes will compete across divisions including Junior, Young Rider, U25, Amateur, Open, and CDI1*/2*/3* and CPEDI2*/3* levels. Among the high-performance athletes expected to compete this year are Camille Carier Bergeron, Jacqueline Brooks, Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu, Jaimey and Tina Irwin, Belinda Trussell, and Simone Williams.
“ODF is critical for the dressage community; it gives an opportunity for top-level riders to come to Canada and compete. Most Canadians don’t get the opportunity to see them, and I think it is incredibly important that they ride here so the younger riders can see them,” said NCD president Mike Harrington.
Not-to-Miss Events
While the daily competition schedule is packed, there are special events that make the ODF more than just a horse show:
- Thurs, May 29 – Jog and Jog Party, plus Rising Stars Welcome Party.
- Fri, May 30 – CDI3* Grand Prix, plus Pony Cup Welcome Pizza Party – for everyone.
- Sat., May 31 – Rising Stars Equitation Ride-Off, CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle & Reception
Whether you’re a dressage devotee or a curious newcomer, the ODF is a wonderful way to experience the beauty and precision of the sport in an accessible, family-friendly setting. Admission for spectators is free, and Wesley Clover Parks offers ample parking, trails, picnic areas, and accessible facilities.
