Dressage Canada is pleased to announce that Liza Wilson of Collingwood, ON is the August 2015 recipient of the Dressage Canada Volunteer of the Month award.
Wilson’s contributions to the Ontario Junior Dressage Team at the 2015 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) in July have made her a standout nomination for this honour.
Earlier this year, Wilson learned that her horse had an injury, and as a result, she would not be able to compete at NAJYRC. Upon hearing the news, Wilson immediately offered to attend as a groom, friend and supporter of fellow rider and team anchor, Alexandra Meghji.
As a staunch supporter of the anchor rider for the team, Wilson had an immediate impact, allowing her teammate to focus solely on the riding, and ultimately aiding the Ontario Junior Team in their gold medal success.
Wilson is described as a true ambassador for dressage and a shining example of sportsmanship. She has not only demonstrated her love of horses but also her commitment to the dressage community at large.
The Dressage Canada Board thanks Wilson for her commitment to the promotion of the sport of dressage in Canada.
