After four successful years at the Torrey Pines Stables of her mentor, Eric Lamaze, Canada’s Kara Chad is moving on. Chad announced the news on her Instagram account:

“After an incredible 4 years with the most amazing people & horses I have said goodbye to Torrey Pines. Thank you to the TP team for everything you’ve done for me. I am beyond grateful for the memories, knowledge and lifelong friendships I have gained which I will never forget as I embark on a new adventure!”

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, and now based in Belgium, Kara whose sister Bretton is also a top show jumping competitor has been a member of Canada’s national teams several times. Under Eric Lamaze’s guidance Chad progressed to the top of the sport, representing Canada at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon riding Carona. She was the travelling reserve for the Canadian Show Jumping Team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Over the years, in addition to Lamaze, Chad has been trained by Susie Schroer & Dick Carvin (USA),

Ben Maher (GBR) and Kelsey Whitaker (CAN). She has currently been campaigning Carona (owned by Torrey Pines), Firefly W (owned by Matthey Sampson) and her own Quidamo F in Europe, most recently at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva, Spain. No details about her plans going forward are currently available.
