From prospects to young horses, jumping bloodlines dominated at the 2026 CWHBA Alberta Chapter Fall Classic Breeders’ Sale. Top seller at $52,000 was Kitsilano, a powerful six-year-old Kumano (Kannan) daughter out of a Beach Boy mare, bred by Touchstone Farm and consigned by Christina Arvidsson-Kupchenko. Prepared by former Olympian Sandra Donnelly, Kitsilano demonstrated tremendous scope under saddle; a prospect ready for the show ring.
The sale, which ran online from October 16-19, featured 38 Warmbloods of various ages, from weanlings and broodmares to prospects under saddle. Sixty per cent of the horses sold, which is consistent with previous years and although some averages were down very slightly, both the high sale price and lowest sale price were up. Prospects averaged $26,722, while weanlings averaged $11,000. Top-selling weanling ($15,500) was Viva Sophia Hue by Canatanero (Chacco Blue) out of a Uccello daughter, consigned by Cathy Chalak Ulterra Equestrian and Highbury Show Stables.
As in previous years, two-year-olds sold well with a cluster of sales around $19,000 to $20,000. Top seller was Uncasanovadelacreme, bred by Manuel and Kristie Panfili and sired by Jemeentheuis HDH. Top-selling broodmare Alpha Bear, in foal to the popular Confidento and consigned by Sandra Donnelly, sold for $15,000 to a US buyer. In all, six horses went south of the border, continuing a tradition of active participation from the American market.
In spite of early concerns around the economy and the US–Canada trade war, the sale stayed close to historic averages. Sale results may be found HERE.
