Jacqueline Brooks rode her long-time partner D Niro in his final freestyle at the Adequan Dressage Festival this weekend.
The much-loved combination has competed at every edition of the prestigious competition since its inaugural run in 2012. They finished in sixth place with 70.6%, and exited the arena with a standing ovation from the crowd.
The 19-year-old grey Swedish Warmblood gelding, affectionately known as Goose, will now return to Canada where Brooks will compete nationally over the summer. The pair has competed together at the 2012 London Olympics as well as the 2013 World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Brooks thanked their supporters on her Facebook page, saying:
“Goose❤❤❤❤!!! Thank you to everyone that has supported Goose here in the Winter Equestrian Festival at Global!! What a ride it has been!! I’m looking forward to a few more summer CDI’s in Canada!! But I will miss entering this ring with Goose very much in the years to come!!!
Go Goose! Go CANADA!”
