Now, let’s meet the foals!
Foal #1 – “I”
DOB: April 20, 2026
Gender: Filly
Sire: Ice Man du Houssoit
Dam: Revival
Dams Sire: Ramiro
Our first filly of the season arrived a little earlier than expected—and her story is one of heartbreak, resilience, and hope. Born two weeks premature, she faced a challenging start to life. Due to unfortunate complications during her delivery, her dam, Revival, did not survive.
Despite her early arrival, this little filly proved to be strong, healthy, and full of spirit from the very beginning. Thanks to an incredible network across Alberta dedicated to connecting foals in need with nurse mares, a suitable match was quickly found. A kind and nurturing mare named Art stepped in and lovingly accepted the filly as her own.
Sired by Spruce Meadows stallion Ice Man du Houssoit, this special young filly will carry a name beginning with the letter “I.” She’s thriving under Art’s care—spunky, curious, and already showing plenty of personality as she explores the world around her.
Foal #2 – “S”
Date of Birth: April 29, 2026
Gender: Filly
Sire: Spot Cash
Dam: Smart
Dam Sire: Zinelord VDL
On April 29, the Spruce Meadows herd grew once again with the arrival of our second foal of the season. Proud mom Smart delivered a healthy and beautiful little filly who already bears a striking resemblance to her mother. From her markings to her gentle expression, the similarities between the pair are hard to miss.
This sweet young filly is sired by the beautiful Hanoverian stallion, Spot Cash, and her name will begin with the letter “S.” While she may be a little shy and reserved right now, she’s growing more curious with each passing day. She especially loves getting out into the paddock, stretching her legs, and showing off the playful energy that every young foal seems to have. Whether she’s staying close to Smart’s side or carefully exploring the world around her, she’s already proving to be a wonderful addition to the Spruce Meadows family.
Foal #3 – “G”
Date of Birth: May 19, 2026
Gender: Filly
Sire: Gunfire PJ
Dam: Serenity Now
Dam Sire: Spot Cash
On May 19, 2026, the Spruce Meadows herd welcomed Foal #3 — a beautiful new filly and a very special arrival for the Spruce Meadows family. First-time mom Serenity Now, a proud alumna of the 2020 Name the Foal, presented by TELUS contest, delivered a healthy filly who is already capturing hearts around the barn.
Serenity Now was bred to Gunfire PJ, and this young filly’s name will begin with the letter “G.” Adding another meaningful connection to her story, she is also the grandfoal of the beautiful Hanoverian stallion Spot Cash.
As a first-time mother, Serenity Now has taken wonderfully to her new role, and both mare and foal are doing well. While the newest addition is still getting steady on her long legs and discovering the world around her, there’s already plenty of excitement about what the future may hold for this special young filly and the personality, athleticism, and spirit she will bring to the Spruce Meadows herd.
