Canadian Olympian Peter Barry, 60, of Dunham, QC, was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC, after suffering a stroke during the Carolina International CIC at the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, NC, on Saturday, March 25. According to Sue Ockendon, who was TD at the event, Peter, who had three horses entered in the event – Foreign Quality, Vermont, and Qorry Blue D’Argouges – had just completed one of his Open Training dressage tests on Saturday when he suffered the medical emergency. He is currently resting comfortably with his wife Susan and son Dylan by his side. It is expected he will be moved back to Canada for rehab and recovery as soon as his condition allows.
Horse Sport extends Peter and his family their best wishes for a speedy recovery.
