Santiago Lambre of Mexico dominated the field in Thursday’s $25,000 ProElite National Grand Prix, taking home both the first and second-place finish to conclude the ESP Holiday II competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center [PBIEC]. Lambre and his Doloris flew through the jump-off timers in 40.113 seconds to clinch an early lead, while he and his Ibabco put in a jump-off time of 43.839 seconds to secure second place. Darragh Kerins of Ireland piloted NRG Farm LLC’s Delight M-G C de Leuze through the jump-off track in 47.396 seconds to claim third.

FEI course designer Mauricio Garcia Ballesteros of Puerto Rico saw 25 pairs contest the first round with eight returning for the jump-off. “It was a nice course for a national standard [grand prix], especially for my horses after having three weeks off. It was technical and the time allowed was okay,” Lambre shared. “With the first one [Doloris], I took a lot of risks. Then after that, there weren’t that many clear, so I just tried to jump clear and stay between first and third with Ibabco.
Lambre explained that he has big plans for the upcoming WEF season: “I’m going to keep jumping the horses that I want to start for WEF 1. I have a plan to jump all of the five stars with Cetano and/or Diathago, and maybe some Nations Cups. Doloris will continue to do the medium classes and maybe the 1.50m. I don’t push her too much because she’s very competitive at this level.”

Earlier in the day, Taylor Kungle of Canada rode her own Linus to top honors in the $1,500 French Horse Exports Low Child/Adult Jumper Classic after a 32.913-second jump-off. Roxalana Gretz of Elverson, PA piloted her mount Honey-Pop through the jump-off in 38.014 seconds to clinch second place. Laurie Berry of Coral Gables, FL rounded out the top three with a jump-off time of 46.097 seconds riding her own Chairman.
The $10,000 Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Stake was championed by Paige Matthies of Lake Leelanau, MI and Barbara Smith’s Dirkie Z after they completed the jump-off in 36.749 seconds. Ramiro Quintana of Argentina and Barnadown Ricky, owned by Smith Hogan LLC, claimed second place with a jump-off time of 40.673 seconds, while Emma Marlowe of Lake Balboa, CA piloted Trelawny Farm LLC’s entry, Stylehaul, to a third-place finish after completing the short course in 46.4 seconds.
Rising to the top of the leaderboard in the $2,500 Equiline Medium Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic was Jean Sheptoff of Littleton, MA riding her Camillo VDL upon completion of the jump-off track in 35.703 seconds. Alexandria Desiderio of Chester, NJ piloted Aminka, owned by David Desiderio & Tranquility Farms, to a second-place finish with a jump-off time of 37.899 seconds, while Rebecca Conway of Wellington, FL and Hillington Farm’s Clearblue Z took home the yellow ribbon after a 74.364-second performance in round one and one time fault.
Erynn Ballard of Canada piloted Jewel LVP, owned by Makim Holdings Inc., to win the $5,000 Joe DiMaggio Children’s Health Specialty Center 1.35 Jumper Stake after stopping the jump-off timers at 41.551 seconds. Close behind with a 41.79-second jump-off was Abigail McArdle of Barrington, IL and I & H Boogy Woogy, owned by Parot Horses LLC. Jonas Vervoort of Belgium piloted VDL Stud’s Giantum Kieni through the jump-off in 43.314 seconds to earn the third-place finish.
Thursday’s Omega Alpha Add Back Jumper class saw Lee Hatcher of Little Rock, AR win the blue rosette aboard her own Echo after flying through the timers at 59.245 seconds. Adriana Palenque of Miami, FL piloted Laurie Berry’s Quipster to a second-place finish with a time of 62.71 seconds, while Sarah Wayda of Princeton, NJ claimed third place with Quiriana, owned by Hunter Farms, after a 63.591-second round.
Five entries contested the WIHS Jumper Phase presented by Score at the Top and Anna Robson of Dallas, TX topped the leaderboard after receiving a score of 84 riding her own Eres Tu. Audrey Schulze of Ridgewood, NJ piloted Elizabeth Deupree’s Quantum Chanel to second place with a score of 83, while Catalina Peralta of Geneva, FL and Capitaine de Flobecq, owned by Nicole Lakin, took home third place upon receiving a score of 76.
Thursday’s Semican 1.25m Jumper class saw Gianni Gabrielli of Argentina take home the blue ribbon after stopping the timers at 62.049 seconds aboard Maidensway’s Chaco 34. Reid Arani of Lexington, KY piloted Ziezo, owned by Islay Jumpers LLC, to second place with a time of 64.824 seconds, while third-place honors were awarded to Blythe Masters of New York, NY and her own entry, Damn Smooth, after putting in a time of 65.595 seconds.
Hunter Highlights
The Gold Coast Feed Performance Hunter 3’3” Division congratulated Steven Gregorio of VLG Wellington, FL and Sterling Malnik’s Channing on earning champion in the division. Ashley Conkle of Campobello, SC showed Hidden Lane, owned by Sarah & Page Tredennick, to earn the reserve champion honors.
Keri Kampsen of Wellington, FL rode her Chagall in the Triple Crown Nutrition Green Hunter 3’3” Division to earn champion honors, while Keith Alaimo of St. Augustine, FL piloted I.M. Gold for Bailey Benner to reserve champion in the division.
The combined $500 Small/Medium Pony Hunter Classic awarded Olivia Sweetnam of Wellington, FL and Stacey Weiss’ entry, Armani, top honors after receiving a total score of 166. Caroline Olsen of Sherborn, MA piloted Mind Your Step, owned by Ashland Farms, to a second-place finish after earning a total score of 161, while the yellow rosette was claimed by Vivian Golden of Reading, PA and Finders-Keepers for R.H.F. Enterprises Inc. with a total score of 159.
Jean Sheptoff of Littleton, MA took home champion honors in the Vita Flex Amateur Owner Hunter 3’6″ division aboard her Heartcore, while reserve honors were awarded to Tracy Scheriff-Muser of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and her own entry, Aristocrat.
The $500 Large Pony Hunter Classic saw Sterling Malnik of Ocean Ridge, FL and her own Prestige take first place after receiving a total score of 165, while Olivia Sweetnam of Wellington, FL and Hagen Blackwell’s Hey Scooby received a total score of 164 to secure the red rosette. Cecelia Perry of Boynton Beach, FL claimed third aboard California Dreamin’ II, owned by Littlewood LLC, after earning a total score of 162.
Sterling Malnik of Ocean Ridge, FL and her Channing bested the field in the #1 Education Place Junior Hunter 3’3”/3’6” division to take home the champion ribbon, while Ellie Ferrigno of Newtown, CT rode Casimir for Anne Glunk to reserve honors.
The ESP Holiday Series will continue this week with the Holiday III show from Friday, December 20 – Sunday, December 22.
