Bordeaux was selected as the recipient of the prestigious award for her countless hours spent working with Jump Canada and Equine Canada.

Her lifelong interest in equestrian sport began with the Montreal Pony Club, where Bordeaux’s instructor and mentor was well-known Montreal horsewoman Barbara Kemp. “Miss Kemp” also guided Bordeaux towards her jumper judging career, which she began in the 1960s in British Columbia. Bordeaux’s involvement with stewarding led to volunteering on rules committees, and her judging led to becoming an FEI International jumper judge and VP, FEI Disciplines, for Horse Council British Columbia in the 1990s. For six years, Bordeaux held the position of Chair of Jump Canada and she has been on the Equine Canada Sport Council since its inception. Her years of volunteering were recognized in 2003 when she was named the Equine Canada ‘Volunteer of the Year’.

“This award means a great deal to me,” said Bordeaux. “It should be shared with all the great volunteers and committee members who I work alongside of for the 13 years I have been on the Jump Canada board.”

In 2003, Chesler was once again named the recipient based on his dedication to the success of the FEI Children’s Final held in Calgary, AB. In 2004, Craig Collins of Loretto, ON, was recognized for the hundreds of hours of volunteer service given to both Jump Canada and Equine Canada as a whole. Claudia Cojocar was the recipient in 2005 for the countless hours she devoted to the development of coaching standards.
