The Danish city has a history of hosting FEI, running a qualifier for FEI Dressage World Cup annually, and in 2013 hosted a multi-discipline equestrian event in with the staging of the FEI European Championships for jumping, dressage and para-dressage.

Five-time Paralympian Lauren Barwick owns Canada’s only medals won in para-dressage at the FEI World Championships, capturing the silver freestyle test grade II and bronze in the championship test grade II, while riding Off to Paris in 2014 in Normandy, FRA.

“Canada has been building our program since 2016 and we have been seeing improvements in team culture and in performance. The 2022 Worlds will be the first of the major global championships leading into Paris 2024, and we will be looking to move forward from our 2020 Tokyo results” said James Hood, EC’s Director, High Performance and FEI Relations “Para-dressage saw a 2.68 point improvement from Worlds 2018 into the 2020 Paralympics and the goal is to continue to improve at an accelerated rate. The Para-dressage program is one of our medal targets for 2024 and 2028 and we thank our funding and performance partners at Sport Canada, Own The Podium and the Canadian Paralympic Committee for their ongoing support.”
