Saturday, October 5th is the day we will witness the combination of the horse power of vintage cars and the horse power of dancing equestrian athletes. Odd bedfellows to be sure but the event, which will take place at the beautiful Oakcrest Farms, will be co-hosted by Ontario Has Talent (OHT), Equine Canada (EC), and Dressage Canada (DC), as a fundraiser for up and coming, as well as established Canadian dressage athletes.

Beginning at noon, the event will feature a rib fest with ribs supplied by Cobblestone Farms, a vintage car show and a collection of fun freestyles featuring some of Canada’s top international athletes. Also on the schedule is an extensive silent auction. “This is going to be a family friendly, country casual, really fun day” stated Kim Goodyear, Event Organizer. “The riders are excited to show off their unconventional freestyles to a panel of unconventional judges including Canadian Idol Judge Zack Werner. The vintage car participants are also thrilled to be coming out to show off their own version of horse power.”

This fundraiser marks the first joint venture between two new powerhouse organizations that support dressage in Canada. OHT, formed a year ago by dressage moms Gabrielle Sutton and Nathalie Lawson, has teamed up with the EC/DC fundraising group called the Canadian Dressage Athlete’s Assistance Program (C-DAAP), whose goal is to help boost Canadian results in international competitions such as the World Equestrian Games and Olympic Games.

“It is my wish to do what I can, working together with like minded supporters, to make a sustainable difference to Canadian dressage” stated Deborah Miculinic, co-founder of C-DAAP. Gabrielle Sutton agrees, “We at OHT are extremely excited to work with Equine Canada, Dressage Canada and the new C-DAAP on this joint fundraising project. Fundraising is more productive when everyone works together and we look forward to future joint events.”

The event will take place Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Oakcrest Farms in Stouffville, ON beginning at noon. Tickets are $30 and include admission to the freestyles performances, car show and rib fest. For additional information or to purchase tickets, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
