The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Sport Horse Association, in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to present ‘Ride for the Cure’, with proceeds going to further research and ongoing education and awareness programs.
“Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Canadian women. Roughly 30% of all new cancer cases in Canadian women this year will be breast cancer and more than 22,000 women will develop the disease this year. The good news is that rates for breast cancer have begun to stabilize over the last decade and mortality rates have declined by more than 25% since 1986.”
This two day horse show, September 22 and 23, 2007, will be held at Hebson Arena, north of Okotoks and will feature English classes on Saturday, Western classes on Sunday, special demonstrations, the CSHA National Foal Championship, an auction of specially donated items and some surprises along the way!
“The response to the concept of Ride for the Cure has been overwhelming”, says Janice Green, show coordinator. “It is still in its early stages of development and yet people are stepping up to the plate to volunteer or offer sponsorship funds. We are planning for this to be an annual fundraiser for Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and we want the Ride for the Cure to be a fun event that everyone marks on their calendars as the “must attend” event of the show season. This cause is so worthwhile as we have all been touched by the reality of breast cancer in some way in our lives. I thank the Canadian Sport Horse Association for its backing and on going support of this event.”
