To promote the thrill of Thoroughbred racehorse ownership and the upcoming CTHS Canadian Premier Yearling Sales, the CTHS of Ontario, and the Thoroughbred Improvement Program hosted a VIP party during The Canadian Millions Sales Stakes Day at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto on Wednesday, August 28th.
The Canadian Millions Sales Stakes Day VIP party provided the more than 250 invited guests with an opportunity to meet and talk with owners who had purchased yearlings out of previous CTHS Canadian Premier Yearling Sales while watching the excitement unfold as former Ontario Sales Graduates competed in a series of six high calibre Stakes Races for a total of $1,000,000 in prize money on the eight race card. This was the first time the Canadian Millions Sale Stakes Day was broadcast during primetime on Rogers Sportsnet One. The high definition broadcast ran over three hours covering all six Stakes Races live.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner along with featured signature beverages and a trendy fashion show highlighting fashionable clothing for the racing set. Televised nationally, the evening’s broadcast presented exclusive interviews with winning owners who spoke of the thrilling rewards of purchasing their yearlings at the CTHS Canadian Premier Yearling Sales in Toronto, Ontario.
Owner and trainer John Ross’ J.R. Racing Stable enjoyed a profitable night winning both the $200,000 Muskoka Stakes, with 2-year-old filly Lexie Lou, and the $200,000 Simcoe Stakes with 2-year-old colt Go Greely. Lexie Lou was purchased by Ross at last year’s CTHS Canadian Premier Yearling Sale for $5,500 and with last night’s win she has purse earnings of more than $150,000. Go Greely was a $40,000 CTHS Canadian Premier Yearling Sale purchase last year and has now earned more than $360,000 winning four of his five races this year.
Another notable winner on the evening was the 5-year-old gelding, Welloiledmachine, a repeat winner of the $125,000 Halton Stakes. Purchased by Christine and Dennis Windsor for $15,000 out of the Canadian Premier Yearling Sale in 2009, Welloildedmachine has now earned more than $415,000 lifetime with his win last night.
Now it is your chance to experience the excitement of horse ownership by purchasing a yearling at the upcoming Canadian Premier Yearling Sale on Tuesday, September 3rd and Saturday, September 7th at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
