The 2019 Pan American Games are just around the corner – taking place in Lima, Peru, from July 26 to August 11 – and are the last chance for Canada to qualify teams for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Dressage and eventing teams will need to be in the two top-ranked positions (top 3 for show jumping) to earn an Olympic berth, excluding the teams that have already qualified. Here, Horse Sport lists the most likely team members and their most recent results.

SHOW JUMPING CONTENDERS

Following are recent 2019 results for Canadian show jumpers and horses who have met the minimum eligibility standards and are most likely to be among those nominated for the 2019 Pan American Canadian Show Jumping Team. To obtain a Certificate of Capability, a horse/rider must not have more than eight penalties in the first round of a Table A competition with a minimum height of 1.50 meters at a CSI/CSI-W or CSIO/CSIO-W outdoor event between April 1, 2018 and June 24, 2019.

The US has already earned their spot with the team gold at WEG 2018, but the team will face fierce competition from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and others.
