Induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is the highest level of sports recognition in Canada. Each year, a class of Canadians who achieved excellence in sport and have the purpose and passion to promote Canada’s shared values beyond their sport successes are awarded the Order of Sport, officially marking their induction.
The eligibility criteria include:
- Exceptional athletes who have been retired from major competition for at least four years
- Builders demonstrating a lifetime commitment to the development of sport in Canada
- Deceased pioneers of Canadian sport
- Makes a defining contribution to his/her sport and/or Canadian society

Canadians are invited to nominate Athletes and Builders of Canadian sport for induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame through the public nomination process. Nomination deadline is midnight of January 15, 2023.
