Canada’s lone representative in the Individual Eventing Final, Rebecca Howard and Riddle Master, had the last of the triple combination down, finishing in 10th place overall with 65.80 pp. “He jumped fantastic actually. He made a huge effort,” said a happy Howard. She explained the one error in an otherwise perfect round. “He’s a funny horse; he got a spook in him and a little bit of a slip or something around that turn coming into the triple. I had to ride a bit more forward and that caught up with us at C.”

Now that it is all over, she admitted, “It’s going to take a bit to absorb. It is pretty cool – it’s something I’ve worked on for so long, but tried to make it feel like a normal thing as much as I can. It’s certainly time to let it soak in that I got around at the Games and we were in the top 10.”

Before she gets on the plane to fly home to her base in England, there will be some celebrations. “I think we’ll just get together as a team and team supporters and have a good dinner. I’ll have a glass of wine – haven’t had one of those in a while!”
