Another barn fire in southwestern Ontario has claimed the lives of more than a dozen horses.
The fire broke out around 10:00 p.m. on January 14th at a private facility in Mount Forest, Ontario, killing 13 Arabian horses.
While firefighters, and barn staff, attempted to enter the barn to rescue the horses inside, the situation was deemed too dangerous and they were forced to retreat. One man was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. According to Mount Forest fire chief, Dave Guilbault, just one horse escaped the flames.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, but there is speculation that a tractor may have caught fire. It was reported that investigators will be looking for any similarities to the fire at Classy Lane Stables in Puslinch, Ontario, which took place on January 4th.
