Dressage Canada (DC) has announced the election process for three committee chair positions to take effect in 2016:
- Athletes’ Council Chair
- Athletes’ Council Vice-Chair
- Finance and Fundraising Committee Chair
Nominees must have experience with not-for-profit committees, such as one or more years working on a Dressage Canada or equivalent committee. Each successful nominee will be elected for a three-year term, commencing January 1, 2016, and will represent the committee on the DC Board for the term of their office.
In addition to the requirements listed above, nominees for the Athletes’ Council Chair or Vice-Chair positions, must either be current DC Athletes’ Council members, or be nominated by two current members. In order to be nominated by current members, nominees must have been a short or long listed athlete within the past five years, or have represented Canada at an Olympic Games or FEI World Equestrian Games.
As per the DC Governance Manual and Committee Terms of Reference, the chair positions will be elected by the senior EC members who are affiliated with Dressage.
Election Timeline for DC Committees
- First Friday of July (July 3, 2015) – Call for nominations.
- Fourth Friday of July (July 24, 2015) – Close of nominations. Nominees must submit a biography with their completed nomination form, and may include a photo. Nominees must also include details which outline if they have a minimum of 12 months experience on a DC committee, or equivalent experience appropriate to the role.
- Third Friday of August (August 21, 2015) – Online biographies and ballot packages will be posted to the DC website and all DC affiliates listed as of the call for nominations date will be notified by e-mail.
- Fourth Friday of October (October 23, 2015) – Deadline for casting online votes. In order to be eligible to vote for the Finance and Fundraising Committee Chair position, an individual must be a current DC Senior Affiliate as of the call for nominations date (Friday, July 3, 2015).
- November 2015 – Announcement of election results.
- January 1, 2016 – new DC Committee chairs join the DC Board.
