Canadian Erynn Ballard has three in the top 10 of the $32,000 CSI3* Two-Phase at Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

The Canadians topped the Friends of the Meadows opener as the second week of the summer tournaments gets underway at Spruce Meadows.

The awards recognize world-class athletes, owners, officials, organizations, volunteers, and supporters in the Canadian equestrian industry.

Nine teams took part in the $150,000 event at Wellington International, with Canada finishing just off the podium behind US, Ireland and Belgium.

Desert Circuit 3 in Thermal, CA, saw the Belgian rider nab the $200,000 feature, while the Canadian piloted the stallion Chatadel PS to his first 1.45m win.

The German took the 5* Qualifier at MLSJ Monterrey with Otello de Guldenboom while the Canadian was close riding De Flor 111 Z Santa Rosa.

Team members McLain Ward, Erynn Ballard and Kaitlin Campbell topped the podium during leg 4 of the MLSJ season.

None of the Canadians made the cut, but there is a slim chance that Mario Deslauriers (31st) could draw in if someone drops out.

The Frenchman won on home ground for the first time just days ahead of the start of the Paris Olympics; "it gives you great energy."
