In the Meggle Grand Prix Freestyle at Indoor Munich, Nov. 21-24, Matthias Bouten sincerely rejoiced over his win – a success that also stayed a bit in the family because Bouten’s partner is owned by the married couple Marina and Toni Meggle and is also called Meggle’s Boston. The beautiful black-brown convinced the judges all the way and so Bouten and Boston sat with a personal best to the top of the lap of honor, which was applauded by 8,000 spectators. It was a performance that the stallion obviously enjoyed: “He’s not macho, but he knows how beautiful he is,” says Bouten. “At home we call him ‘the king’. He just knows he’s the boss in the stable. At tournaments, he then regularly grows beyond himself, he just has a great attitude! ”
Second place in the freestyle went to Christoph Koschel with Ballantines. The 42-year-old was thrilled with the atmosphere in the Olympiahalle: “It was a lot of fun, the Munich audience goes off like crazy. One therefore floats!” Third was Lisa Müller with Birkhof’s Dave.
Christoph Koschel was also delighted with the overall victory in the series Meggle Champion of Honor. He had won the special award in the final stage of the Munich Indoors and thus conquered the top of the ranking. “I am very happy about this and can only express a great deal of praise to the Meggle family for the idea behind the series and of course a very big thank you, to support such a series.” Second in the ranking was Jill de Ridder, followed by Frederic Wandres.
