The world’s number one ranked show jumper, Kent Farrington, of the United States, won the Rolex Grand Prix at the Royal Windsor Horse show for the second year in a row, this time riding Sherkan D’Amaury.
Twelve of the 30 starters had clear rounds over the CSI5* 1.60m course, designed by Bob Ellis, in the first round, including Canada’s Eric Lamaze with Fine Lady 5.
Though Lamaze posted the fastest time of the jump-off round (37.52 seconds), he and Fine Lady incurred four faults at the second last jump, which took them out of contention. The pair finished in eighth place. Farrington had the fasted of the seven clear rounds, finishing in 39.97 seconds. Fellow Canadian Tiffany Foster was 19th with Tripple X III, after picking up four faults in the first round.
Foster had better luck in the Palm Speed Stakes riding Brighton. The duo placed third, after Ireland’s Billy Twomey and Pius Schwizer of Switzerland.
