A horse was shot and killed in her paddock on an Elmworth, Alberta farm on October 21st.
Tassie’s owner, eight-year-old Shelby Ireland, was devastated upon hearing the news, when only moments before she had been admiring her mare through a window in her home.
Shelby’s mother, Ashley Ireland, noticed the mare lying down, feet in the air and struggling, a short time after and went to check on her. She discovered the mare had been shot. She held her head to comfort Tassie as she died.
Beaverlodge RCMP are investigating the incident. Officers who attended the scene confirmed it was a gunshot wound.
