Ottawa, Ontario — Equine Canada President Al Patterson is pleased to announce that Debbie Millar has been promoted to the new position of Chief Executive Officer.

Hired originally as EC’s Director of Operations in 2005, Millar’s background includes management consulting and business planning in non profit and municipal sectors.

Millar has climbed a steep learning curve since joining EC, and proved her leadership and problem solving abilities, particularly during this past year while filling the position left vacant with the departure of EC’s Executive Director Don Adams. Millar’s promotion comes with the redesign of the senior executive of Equine Canada and the introduction of a Director of Sport position.

In her role as CEO, Debbie will be responsible for all operational and administrative requirements, infrastructures and programs of the organization, with support from Director of Finance Mike Arbour and recently hired Director of Sport Craig Andreas, in addition to the qualified staff at the National Office.

“I look forward to meeting the challenges of this position, and contributing to the efforts of many dedicated volunteers and member organizations working to move the organization forward in a positive direction,” commented Millar. “I love that no day is the same and each one demands the application of different skills and knowledge to produce results.”

EC President Al Patterson noted “I have complete confidence in Debbie filling this role and on behalf of the EC Board of Directors I would like to give her our sincere congratulations.”
