The International Equestrian Federation’s (FEI) First Vice-President, John McEwen has joined the race for FEI President. McEwen is the latest candidate to throw his hat in the cauldron after Switzerland’s Pierre Genecand, Danish Federation President Ulf Helgstrand and former French Olympian Pierre Durand. As well as his executive role on the FEI Bureau, McEwen is chairman of the FEI Veterinary Committee and long serving team veterinarian for the British Equestrian Federation.
“I have been delighted to play my part in support of the FEI and of our current President, HRH Princess Haya,” commented McEwen. “I have no illusions about the challenges for this election and the work that needs to be undertaken in the future. I run because I know I have the confidence and support of my own Federation and because I am committed to the direction our current president has forged.”
The election takes place December 14 during the FEI General Assembly in Baku.
