It was a déjà vu start to the ‘National’ CSI5*, presented by Rolex, for Canada’s Amy Millar. Just as she had done the previous week on opening day, Millar bested the rest of the competition and flew to another victory aboard Christiano in the Friends of the Meadows Cup. The pair were almost five seconds faster than fellow Canadian Erynn Ballard, who had to settle for second place aboard Ilan Ferder’s De Flor 111 Z Santa Rosa. Another Canadian just off the podium in 4th place was Susan Horn riding Chacca Keeps II out of a starting field of 55 over German FEI course designer Olaf Petersen Jr.’s track.

“I am lucky enough to have horses that grow. They walk in there and they know it’s important, and they get bigger and rise to the occasion,” said Millar after stepping through the International Ring Clock Tower for the first time this season. “But again, I think the most important thing is the footing. And the grass in that international ring, you can’t compare it to anything. It’s amazing. The horses jump super off of it.”
