Research to calculate the equine emission “hoofprint” has been completed by Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in partnership with the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) .

The team of researchers from WUR have worked with stables in Sweden and the Netherlands to track the activities of horses, from birth to maturity, across a range of competition disciplines, to understand the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions the horse is accountable for. This has led them to create Hoofprint, an equine-specific emission calculator.
