Two Canadian entries will participate in the FEI World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses, scheduled for August 24-29, 2021, in Verden, GER.
In the six-year-old class Fleur de Vie (Fidertanz 2 x Sandro Hit), a Hanoverian mare owned and bred by Cord Gaus, will be ridden by two-time Canadian Olympian Leonie Bramall, who currently resides in Isernhagen, GER. Fleur de Vie was crowned Hannoveraner Championesse at the Verden 2021 Hannoveraner Championships.
J’Adoreina (All at Once x Tuschinski) and Mathieu Boisselier, a Canadian residing in Came, FRA, will be competing in the seven-year-old class. The Dutch Warmblood mare known as Jasmine, owned by SCEA Elevage d’Hulm, already has two FEI level competitions to her name with a personal best score of 74.600% from the 2019 Segovia CDI-YH Final Test for 5-Year-Olds.
This World Championships for young dressage horses is returning after the cancellation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Classes for five-, six- and seven-year-old dressage horses offer the participating breed organizations a unique opportunity to showcase their horses in front of an international and knowledgeable audience, bringing more visibility to breeders and studbooks. Champions are determined through a number of exciting dressage tests and this important event has developed into one of the annual highlights for breeders, riders and dressage lovers. The WBFSH hold similar championships events for young jumpers (Sept. 23-26, Lanaken, Belgium) and eventing horses (Oct. 21-24, Lion d’Angers, France) annually.
