The Canadian Hanoverian Society announces first winner of the Canadian Bred Hanoverian of the Year Award. The winner is the hunter gelding Mosaic (Furst Nymphenburg/Hochadel/Silvio). Mosaic was bred by Ted and Elaine Parkinson of Parkwood Stables Rockwood, Ontario and foaled in 2012. His barn name at the Parkinson’s was Floto in honour of Fritz Floto who pioneered the breeding of Hanoverians in Canada.
Mosaic was sold in 2016 to Jeanine Cash and her father Colin Cash of Boston, Massachusetts. He competed very lightly in 2017 but in 2018 and 2019 had many Champion and Reserve Champion placings in 3’3” Adult Amateur hunter divisions and Amateur Owner 36-49 Division. He was especially successful at the Wellington Equestrian Festival shows in very large classes.
His owner Jeanine says that, “Mosaic has been blessed with both a great mind and exceptional movement and style”. This speaks to his breeding with the top dressage talent of his sire, Furst Nymphenburg (Florencio I/De Niro) and his dam’s sire, Hochadel (Hohenstein/Donnerhall). This combines with the jumping talent of the granddam’s sire Silvio (Sandro/Gepard) to produce a horse with excellent gaits and good jumping ability.
