The crowds participating in the ‘Show your Spirit’ event at the Spruce Meadows ‘National’ did not disappoint. A variety of groups, organizations and teams waved their flags, shook their pom poms and displayed their colourful signs and posters in hopes of winning one of the many cash prizes up for grabs. For six consecutive years, Spruce Meadows has hosted the ‘Show Your Spirit’ event in order to help with the financial challenges and demands which community based organizations are constantly facing. Along with our sponsors, Spruce Meadows includes these groups in a fun filled day of community spirit and the sport of Show Jumping.
Between the rounds of the competition, the teams, organizations, and youth groups had to impress the judges with their costumes, creativity and enthusiasm in order to win additional cash prizes. International announcer Beezley hosted the Show Your Spirit event during the TransCanada Parcours de Chasse. Beezley was very impressed with the amount of community initiative and spirit people brought to Spruce Meadows. He comments how the Show Your Spirit event “…brought a new spirit to show jumping and the sport”.
The grand finale of the Parade of Nations allowed the winners and participants to march along the perimeter of the International Ring as they continued to display their community pride and spirit. Even though the rain poured down today at Spruce Meadows, the participants and crowds left the grounds feeling fully energized with the memory of fun competition and community spirit.
