mar29Woody is back to work today. No rest for the wicked. Only hacking today then tomorrow he has training camp with Clayton for dressage at 11:30. Before that Selena is going to meet Sammy at Longwood to cross country school before he does his second event this coming weekend. Benny has come up lame in front. It has appeared quickly and he is quite lame so the chances are that it is an abscess. Selena is treating him for an abscess and hoping it will burst and he will be back to work soon. Thunder, Solo and Rummy all had a nice flat school.

Anne Marie took Riley to Longwood for the Tuesday afternoon show jumping. She did two classes and they had a great time. The Tuesday stadium practice sessions at Longwood are popular and a great idea. They run three or four different heights under table A jumper. She had a good jump-off round too, but the girls don’t wait around to see what ribbon they have won at these schooling shows, they just don’t have time.

Selena was at Longwood again later in the day to ride a lovely young Canadian horse that belongs to a friend over some of the cross country jumps and in and out the water. There is nothing more fun than playing in the water complex on a hot day.

Here at home I am fussing about our geriatric, Cammie (The Main Man). He is 32 and he was Selena’s first young rider horse. I bred him myself so we have owned him his whole life. This winter he has not been drinking well. We have tried salt with every feed and salt every other way we can think of, but he is down to drinking about a quarter of a bucket a day. I have tried warm water but to no avail. He just doesn’t like to drink when it’s cold out. I wish the weather would hurry up and get warm. I would like to think he could have one more summer with us. This photo was taken of him today while he was having a walkabout in the arena. The fellow lying down is his paddock pal Henry. Henry is a great one for having a little stretch out when he can. Our geriatric is the one standing behind him.
