mar-24Well today was not the stellar dressage test Selena had planned. She went into the ring thinking she could win. Sadly, Woody was not completely on the same page. He found something to shy at by the side of the ring and made a mountain out of it. He first noticed something strange coming across the diagonal in his medium trot and broke to canter…he NEVER does than. From then on, every time he got to the same point in the arena he tried to turn his head to look/spook and when Selena tried to keep him straight he switched in the counter canter and generally gave her a rough ride. Oh well, he has been Mr Perfection for a long time but it’s a bit of a disappointment to say the least.

The course is huge. Ian Stark builds a big course. He does Richland Park too and Selena has always enjoyed her rides at Richland, lets hope Saturday is the same. Tomorrow they show jump at 1.08, the live stream is at www.EQsports.net. I am not sure I can watch. I couldn’t watch the whole dressage test, once he spooked and broke into canter I had had it and had to leave the room! I find that the older I get the less able I am to watch Selena compete. I remember my mother hated watching me compete, now I can understand why.

Zephyr did a great job in the one star. He is in the top third of a gigantic class, all the classes are huge. He does his cross country tomorrow afternoon. They are not filming any of the one star rides.

The amount of ‘stuff’ two horses need for one three day event is monumental. This photo show all of it – we couldn’t stand back far enough to get it all in. LOL

We got our ice storm, but we were not as badly hit as other areas in Southern Ontario. It’s just melting now, but there is still too much ice lying on the ground to risk any turnouts. I hate when the horses cannot get out into the fresh air, even if it’s just for an hour. We give them a good turnout in the indoor arena but it’s not the same deal as outside.

So Woody show jumping and Zephyr cross country tomorrow.
