Going to keep this as short as possible because it’s very late and I have an early start.
Today was EXHAUSTING! I had a nice hack on Woody and worked a little on some of the tips Annabelle had given me the day before. Then I set fences for Jessica while she jumped Pavarotti. He is such a pleasure to watch do anything.
Then Clayton had arranged for the riders to go on a long boat down the canal to meet up with the grooms and support staff at a pub. He also mentioned something about a challenge of traveling through all the locks in less then one hour (apparently his parents had done it).
I said no thank you, as I suffer from severe motion sickness. He did not accept that answer;) So, we piled into the boat and headed to the pub. Was only 20 mins or so. Enjoyed a wonderful pub lunch with everyone and piled back into the boat. As I discovered more about this “trek down the locks challenge” I began to realize it was one hour there AND back!! If you were lucky?? Not sure…
Now I live in Kingston, Ontario and we have many locks, which I enjoy an occasional swim near. They have “lock keepers” who open and close them for you all summer long. WELL LET ME TELL YOU ITS HARD WORK! We had to do it ourselves with Clayton cracking the whip for “faster faster have to beat an hour!” Not gonna lie Gamal, Peter and Clayton did most of the hard work. Jessica Hawley and I did help (a little) 😉 My neck and shoulders are in agony. I can’t imagine how they feel. None of us will be able to move tomorrow lol! Took us four hours altogether and we didn’t even make it to the end before we begged to go home. Didn’t get home till 6:30 p.m.!
Best part of my day was meeting friends and family Stacey, Alex and Jen at Maizey Manor and after a quick hello to Woody we all went to dinner at Castle & Ball. Was SO GREAT to see them. Haven’t seen Alex in over a year, his hair is SO LONG!!Best part is they are all coming to cheer us on in Normandy next week:)))
Ok I really have to go to bed now…
