Zephyr was awesome, he went into the ring and did his job. He was serious and focussed and he jumped like a pro to finish with a clear round. It was a tough show jumping at the one star level and Selena was very pleased indeed. After his awesome cross country yesterday he had moved up to 16th. The clear show jumping round brought him all the way up to 8th place to finish out of 60 entries. It was a shame he chose this particular show to experiment with ’not so square’ halts. He is normally up at the top of the standings after dressage, but he sure made up for it in the jumping phases. We are looking forward to his next outing, we need to ace all three phases at the one show as this little guy is pretty unbeatable when he is on full form. Thank you Kelly Damp for letting us have the ride while you are working hard in Toronto, we can’t wait till you come down to ride again.
So the first big CIC of the year is under our belts, three horses, three divisions, , three sound horses and three happy owners. Bruce Davidson taught me a long long time ago that a GOOD event is one that everyone goes home sound and well, it has nothing to do with ribbons or awards and everything to do with a safe and sound team.
The REALLY BIG NEWS of the day was Buck Davidson withdrawing and hot footing it home because his BABY IS COMING. He and his lovely wife Andrea are expecting their first child and Andrea was already past her due date when Red Hills started. Well the baby wasn’t going to wait that long and started to make her arrival known this afternoon. We are all waiting for the news, especially grandpa Bruce D who is more excited than you can imagine. We are all rooting for you Andrea. Give the course a good go!
