mar-26Today was a good day at the office. Zephyr did a double clear which moved him up to 9th place to finish out of 77 starters. He was a really good boy and gave his best. He had .40 of a time penalty yesterday, which believe it or not, cost him two places. It just goes to show how very tight the competition is this year in all the CIC divisions.

Woody came out very strong and Selena was having a bit of trouble getting him organized in front of the early fences. He did a great clear with 6.8 time penalties, she had one or two fences where she felt he saved her, but he knew his job and just got on with it. The cross country course was very difficult to make the time, there were only three double clears. Selena was the highest placed Canadian. She would have liked to have finished a little higher than 45th after dressage, but she is thrilled with his jumping this weekend, especially his stadium which I personally think might be the best show jumping round I have ever seen him do. She and Foxwood High finished in a very respectable 12th place out of 81 starters.

I have to say I was impressed with the way April Simmonds rode around the 3* on Quebec. She looked very determined out there, which bodes well for Canada as she is one of our up and coming young riders. Jessica Phoenix decided not to run Pavarotti XC. She will no doubt be running him at The Fork and let’s face it, Jess and Pavarotti have nothing to prove! It was great to see Will Faudree in fine form. It’s the first time I have seen him out since his accident and he is baaaaack – 1st and 3rd in the two star. Lovely to see Alison Springer and the beautiful Arthur win, he is such a sweet horse. To know him is to love him.
