mar-6-1Sunday Marta did both her her jumping phases and Sammy did his cross country. There was sharks’ teeth on our course that were hidden in the shade. He took a good hard look at them. I growled very loudly at him and he jumped. He was very brave at the water and ditch. We made time and won!

Check out this video.

Marta and Thunder had one rail in show jumping. He got a little strung out and bumped it behind. Other then that it was a lovely smooth round. I ran out to the middle of the field to video some of their cross country  and they looked fantastic. A big leap into the water and perfect manners on the way home. Marta loves him and his big stride. She has no fear and the lay time Thunder competed it was prelim with me. Needless to say they had speed faults, which is only because Beginner Novice is so slow and they were having so much fun. Finished up 7th in a big division with good riders at their first event together. Can’t wait until next time.

mar-6-2Sunday Funday was well attended at Balsam Hall.  It seems like everyone is getting themselves revved and ready to return to the great out doors and EVENTING.  The winter is ok I guess, but the summer rocks.  The exercise this week was quite tricky.  An X, 9’ to a 2’ upright, then 18’ to another upright (starting at 2’), then 18’ to another 2’ upright followed by 9’ to an X   So you jump in over an X, bounce over an upright, one short gymnastic stride to a second upright, another short stride to a third upright then bounce out over an X. They slowly built and jumped our way up to the full grid then asked the horses to turn around and do the same grid backwards. It ALWAYS catches somebody out, and it often catches everyone out when they change direction.  For some reason horses do not see the exercise as ‘the same’ when you come from the other side and the change in the way of negotiating the exercise is very noticeable.

Next Sunday they might be schooling outside.
