Following a two-hour hearing on Friday, January 3rd, a temporary restraining order to block the opening of Valley Meat Co. has been extended for an additional 10 days.
The New Mexico slaughterhouse, owned by Rick De Los Santos, was slated to begin operations in the next two weeks. However, State District Judge Matthew Wilson has extended the order to allow both sides of the debate – New Mexico Attorney General Gary King and Valley Meat Co.’s lawyer, Blair Dunn – more time to submit arguments. The case will resume on January 13th.
