If Ian Millar (CAN) could look ahead to 2012 he would see himself his tenth Olympic Games in London, this time riding Dryden, his 8 year-old  Belgian Warmblood stallion.  For now Millar is working on developing a partnership with his mount one competition at a time.

Today’s West Jet Cup was a perfect opportunity for the pair to work together and show what they have to offer.  Millar and Dryden were clear after one round of competition, moving onto the jump-off.

Working their way around the Anthony D’Ambrosio course Millar and Dryden looked perfect.  The promising stallion proved why Millar thinks he is his next best as the pair crossed the finish line in 44.29 seconds.  That time was nearly a second quicker than their closest competitor, James Benedetto (USA) and his mare Trulli.

For the nine time Canadian Olympian the win in the West Jet Cup was a fantastic start to what will be a championship partnership for years to come.  “This horse has all the tools to go to the top of the sport.  He showed that tonight,” said an elated Millar in the winner’s circle.  “He will be 12 years-old in 2012 and his destination is London,” added the champion of the West Jet Cup.
