Equine Canada is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 Para-Equestrian Canada/Sport Canada grants.
For nearly a decade, Para-Equestrian Canada and Sport Canada have worked in partnership to fund programs that encourage increased participation in competition from the demographic of riders with a disability.
The following therapeutic riding centres were provided grants up to $500 to be used toward new or expanded competitive opportunities for riders with a disability:
• Free Spirit Therapeutic Riding Association – Aylesford, NS
• Richmond Therapeutic Riding Association – Richmond, BC
• Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society – Grand Prairie, AB
Since 2008, more than 70 grants have been awarded to para-equestrian riding centres.
Initiatives funded by the grants have included:
• In-house competitions
• Competition equipment, including dressage arena enhancement
• Video recording equipment for participation in the Para-Equestrian Canada Video Competition Series
• Implementation of Introduction to Competition riding programs
