Toronto, ON – Plans are already underway at The Royal Horse Show to welcome the Olympic Silver Medal winning team, including the individual Gold Medalist Eric Lamaze, to competition at this year’s Royal Horse Show, November 7th – 16th.
Team members Ian Millar, Jill Henselwood, Mac Cone and Eric Lamaze have confirmed they will be attending, including a special Team autograph session scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday November 8th, following the final round of the Canadian Show Jumping Championships presented by Greenhawk. The team will also be recognized during Horse Show performances Wednesday, November 12th, prior to the CN FEI World Cup Qualifier and again Saturday, November 15th, prior to the Ricoh Big Ben Grand Prix.
While the specific equine line-up depends on qualifying events still taking place, Lamaze has confirmed his Olympic partner Hickstead will not be making the trip to Toronto but rather staying in Europe, where they are currently competing in their attempt to move up one spot to the top of the world rankings list.
It is also anticipated that members of the Gold Medal team from the United States will be attending, including McLain Ward and Laura Kraut. The United States captured the Gold following an intense battle with the Canadians, including a head-to-head jump-off between the two North American teams.
In total, over $795,000 in prize money will be awarded during the ten-day Royal Horse Show, making it one of the richest indoor equestrian events in the world. For information and complete schedule visit www.royalfair.org.
