Canadian eventer Samantha Taylor has announced the retirement of her 2008 Olympic partner, Livewire, from international eventing.
“Livewire sustained a minor injury at the end of February,” said Taylor. “He is going to start a career in show jumping with me. He will still go out eventing at the lower levels with students and friends.”
Taylor had planned to compete at this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event aboard the 11-year-old B.C.-bred gelding, whom she purchased as a two-year-old. With this set back, however, Taylor is now in the process of putting a syndicate together, and securing sponsorship, for her next top level mount.
“I am working to secure the financial support that I need to support my next four-star horses,” she said. “I have two very nice young horses, but they are several years away from competing at the highest level. I would love to find a horse to take to the World Championships next year and I am actively looking for owners and sponsors to help me with this.”
