The Colorado Horse Park (CHP) is pleased to offer an Eventing Derby on Friday, September 15, 2017, at The Colorado Horse Park in Parker, CO.
The inaugural CHP Eventing Derby will present a combination of show jumps and cross-country fences set on varied terrain and feature 10-16 jumping efforts for each level. The CHP September Horse Trials will run the following two days from September 16-17, featuring Intro, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, and Preliminary level competition. Horse and rider pairs will be judged at optimum time.
The entry price for each horse and rider will be $75 with a $25 add-back for each entry. The split for the prize money as well ribbon pinning will continue through 6th place, and prize money for each level will total a value of $500.
CHP Eventing Derby Levels
– Intro: Max height 2’0, Speed 300 m/m, approximately 10 obstacles
– Beginner Novice: Max height 2’7, Speed 325 m/m, approximately 11 obstacles
– Novice: Max height 2’11, Speed 350 m/m, approximately 12 obstacles
– Training: Max height 3’3, Speed 375 m/m, approximately 13 obstacles
Water obstacles during the Eventing Derby will be optional at the Intro level and will be mandatory for the Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training levels.
At the end of the day, there will be a “Horseless Horse Show” Division will be offered at the Intro level height. Bring your own toy stick horse or take a run through the course on foot! Prize money for this division will be $250. Entry fees will be $25 with an add back of $10 for each entry. Ribbons will be pinned through 6th place.
The inaugural Eventing Derby will provide an excellent opportunity for riders to school their horses prior to the start of the CHP September Horse Trials, which will begin on Saturday, September 16. Separate entries must be filled out for each horse competing.
