Bryan Anderson, a well-known and respected horseman from Calgary, AB, has died following a tragic riding accident. He was 44.
Bryan was a member of the Canadian Show Jumping Team at 18 years of age, often competing alongside twin sisters Susan and Sandra and big brother John as part of “Team Anderson.” He won the 1988 Texaco Invitational at Spruce Meadows aboard Scirocco, and was second in the Texaco Derby that same year behind Ian Millar. He also represented Canada at the 1990 World Cup final in Germany. He operated Bryan Anderson Show Jumping, an equestrian facility south of Calgary, developing young horses and coaching riders up to the grand prix level. Out of the saddle, he was a partner at Verawood Real Estate Inc.
Bryan leaves behind his wife, Cari, family and friends. At the request of his family, Bryan’s organs will provide the gift of life to other families in need. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Anderson family as they cope with their incredible loss.
