WASHINGTON, D.C – Canada’s Pan American Games show jumping individual gold medalist, Jill Henselwood, of Oxford Mills, Ontario added another victory to her winning streak late last night in Washington D.C.  At nearly midnight, Henselwood and on Black Ice, won  the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix at the Verizon Centre in a tie-breaker against four American entries and one other Canadian.

Todd Minikus of Loxahatchee, Florida held the lead in the timed jump-off, on Olinda, until Henselwood, in second-to-last position shaved mere fractions off his time. Karen Cudmore, the alternate for Canada’s Pan American Games team this year, finished 5th on Southern Pride. Minikus was a member of the U.S. team at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in July.

Black Ice was not Henselwood’s Pan American Games mount, but is one of two mounts she is aiming at next year’s Olympic Games. Two weeks ago, she was victorious in a $100,000 grand prix in Virginia on her Pan Am mount, Special Ed.

Henselwood will compete in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania before returning to Canada to contest the Canadian National Championships at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
