Canada’s Grace Clairmont has qualified to compete at the FEI Children’s International Classic Final which will take place at the Valle de Bravo, MEX, January 26–31, 2015.
Clairmont of Fonthill, ON, won the FEI Children’s International Classic Qualifier held at the Jumping Blainville Week 2, from July 2–6. The 14-year-old posted four clear rounds aboard Urioso, a 17-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Robin Hannah. In addition to winning the FEI Children’s International Classics Qualifier, Clairmont also was victorious with Urioso in the 1.10m Junior/Amateur Classic at Angelstone Erin Welcome CSI 3*, in Erin, Ont.
“I am extremely proud and excited to represent Canada at the Children’s International Classic Final in 2015,” said Clairmont. “I have been riding since I was nine, but travelling to Mexico to compete in the Final is something I could never have dreamed would happen to me. I am so lucky to ride Urioso—such a fantastic horse with so much heart. Thank you to everyone for this awesome opportunity.”
A total of 32 riders are qualified to compete in the FEI Children’s International Classic Final in Valle de Bravo, MEX. The riders will include 16 from the host country of Mexico, and the remaining 16 riders selected to participate in the Final will be the top ten on the Gold Tour final standings list, plus the best riders from each FEI Group not already represented in the top 10.
The worldwide standings include the final scores for each competitor from every Children’s International Classic qualifying competition in the world held in 2014 before Nov.3, 2014. The final score for each competitor is the total penalties of the four rounds and the total of time in the two second rounds.
Riders are considered children by the FEI from the beginning of the year they reach the age of 12 until the end of the year they reach the age of 14. If the Final is held in the year after the qualifying competitions, riders who have qualified but who are no longer of the correct age at the time of the Final will be permitted to take part.
