Last Saturday afternoon, Brazilian show jumper Álvaro Affonso de Miranda Neto, known familiarly as Doda, came fourth in the Valencia GP, going through to the second stage of the Global Champions Tour.

Riding AD Rahmannshof’s Bogeno, Doda Miranda was one of the five competitors to make it through, out of a total 37 competitors jumping obstacles up to 1.60m high. The Brazilian and his mount were fastest in the second round, finishing in 40s62, but with two faults. The overall winner was the British rider, Ben Maher on Tripple X III, who achieved a clear round in 41s35, followed by his fellow countryman, Michael Whitaker on Viking, also clear with a time of 42s17. In third place was Irish rider Denis Lynch on Abbervail van het Dingeshof, with one fault and a time of 40s91.

The Valencia CSI5* brought together the leading horsemen and women from all over the world to compete for the 400,000 Euros prize money, and last Saturday (5th of may) saw 285,000 Euros handed out in prizes.

The GCT is the biggest show jumping circuit in the world and is held in 11 countries, with a total of seven million Euros in prize money, as well as circuit championship awards. The next stop for the GCT will be Hamburg, Germany, from 16 to 20 May.
