“No foot, no horse” is an old but true saying and the next World Horse Welfare webinar will feature Dr Simon Curtis, who is internationally recognised for his ability as a farrier, educator and author. The webinar will air on Wednesday December 1st at 7pm and will be covering the importance of good foot care in horses.
Dr Curtis will bring his wealth of experience to bear on a range of topics, including what constitutes ideal foot balance and how good farriery can help lame horses, including those with laminitis. Following his presentation, Simon will be joined for a panel discussion by Anna Hammond, an experienced equine vet who has worked in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and who has extensive experience of both private and referral, and by Hayley Penrice, Assistant Centre Manager at World Horse Welfare’s Penny Farm in Lancashire.
Among other topics, the discussion will cover what to look for in terms of foot and limb conformation when buying a horse, the owner’s role in caring for horses’ feet, and recent innovations in hoof care. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q & A session in which you will have the chance to ‘ask the experts’ any questions you may have.
By registering for the webinar through Zoom, you will be able to take part in the various polls, ask questions during the Q&A and enjoy an interactive experience. If you are keen to be part of the conversation, then please join HERE.
The webinars are free to attend and if you are unable to attend via Zoom they can be viewed as a Facebook Live session. If you have missed any of the previous webinars – which have tackled subjects as fascinating and diverse as keeping horses fit, weight management, euthanasia, biosecurity, horse mental wellbeing and travelling – they are all available to watch on the World Horse Welfare YouTube channel here.
