Olympic Show Jumping Champions Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, and Hickstead won the €200,000 Longines Grand Prix of La Baule on Sunday, May 15, at CSIO5* La Baule, France.

From a starting field of 46 horses, 11 jumped clear to advance to the jump-off. As the third rider back for the jump-off, Lamaze and Hickstead left all the jumps in place before stopping the clock in 37.22 seconds.

It was then a waiting game as eight more horse-rider combinations took their turn in La Baule’s expansive grass arena. France’s own Penelope Leprevost came the closest to catching Lamaze’s time, guiding Mylord Carthago home in a time of 37.45 seconds. Germany’s Carsten-Otto Nagel took third with a time of 38.19 seconds riding Corradina while World Champions Philippe Le Jeune and Vigo d’Arsouilles placed fourth in a time of 39.34 seconds for Belgium.
