Equine Canada is pleased to introduce two new full-time staff to its national office.
With the recent departure of program coordinator—competitions, Kate Evans, Equine Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of Irena Seifert to fill the position. Seifert joined Equine Canada in the summer of 2008 when she was first hired to fill a maternity-leave contract position for the coordinator of dressage. Seifert now joins Kathy Strong in the competitions department.
“Irena has great skills and we had long hoped to be able to retain her on a permanent basis after nearly three years as a coordinator for two different disciplines. The competitions department is a great fit for Irena,” said Equine Canada’s chief operating officer, Craig Andreas.
For questions related to competitions, rules, officials and stewards, Seifert can be reached at iseifert@equinecanada.ca and Strong can be reached at kstrong@equinecanada.ca.
Kari MacGregor has been hired to administer the Equine Medications Control program for Equine Canada. MacGregor has worked for Equine Canada in the past, fulfilling a four month contract as the coordinator for dressage. Starting immediately, MacGregor can be reached at karimacgregor@equinecanada.ca for all inquiries regarding the program.
Although their names are remarkably similar, Kari MacGregor is not to be confused with Equine Canada’s 2010 World Equestrian Games Canadian Equestrian Team Leader, Canadian Olympic Committee Session member for Equestrian and chair of Sport Council, Kerri McGregor.
“Kari’s experience as a coordinator for dressage will serve her well in the competitions department as our new lead for the Equine Medication Control program,” said Andreas.
Equine Canada expresses its thanks to Gary Yaghdijan, Allan Ehrlick and the staff at the Ontario Equestrian Federation for administering the Equine Medication Control program on Equine Canada’s behalf during the 2010 year. It is because of this strong partnership with the OEF that Equine Canada is now in the position to administer the program out of the national office beginning in 2011.
Please join Equine Canada in welcoming the new staff to the Equine Canada office team. Equine Canada wishes them all the best in each of their respective positions.
